The Camino Francés is among the most famous and beloved routes for pilgrims, both because of the social experience and the diverse landscapes it passes through. This route is not one of the easiest, but it is incredibly rewarding. Along the way, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the Pyrenees Mountains, which will reveal themselves to us in all their glory from the heights of Roncesvalles, situated at 1450 meters above sea level. We will have the opportunity to explore the old town streets of Pamplona, known for the annual Bull Run festival, and admire stunning vistas as we pass through medieval towns and picturesque villages rich in historical and cultural significance. Finally, we will conclude our journey in the beautiful city of Logroño, boasting magnificent architecture. This is the perfect route for lovers of culture, history, and nature.

Day 1 - Arrival in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port


Nestled in France, a mere eight kilometers from the Spanish border, lies the picturesque town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, heralded as the starting point of the renowned Camino Francés. Adorned with charming orange-roofed houses and elegant white facades, the town is graced by the meandering Nive River, accentuated by a splendid stone bridge. Before embarking on our journey, we have the opportunity to meander through the quaint old streets and acquaint ourselves with fellow pilgrims at the pilgrims' office, fostering new friendships for the road ahead.


Day 2


Our odyssey commences from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, tracing the famed "Napoleon Route" through the Pyrenees, bridging the gap between France and Spain. Ascending approximately 1450 meters in elevation, we are treated to sweeping vistas of idyllic village vistas before immersing ourselves in the rugged mountainous terrain, reveling in panoramic views of the Pyrenees. Our path then leads us onwards towards the Spanish border.

Day 3


Today's journey proves equally challenging as we traverse from Roncesvalles, weaving through enchanting forests and rustic villages within the Navarre region of Spain. Crossing mountain ridges, our trek culminates in a steep descent amidst captivating natural surroundings, culminating in Zubiri, the gateway to the Estribar Valley. Upon arrival, we are greeted by the majestic medieval Puente de la Rabia bridge, spanning the Arga River.

Day 4


Our expedition leads us along the scenic banks of the Arga River to Arresouana, before venturing forth to Pamplona, renowned for its iconic Bull Run festival held annually in July. Pamplona, the historic capital of Navarre, beckons with its rich tapestry of history and culture. Here, we indulge in delectable local fare, savor superb wines, and traverse the labyrinthine streets, culminating in the Plaza del Castillo, home to the iconic Café Iruña, frequented by the esteemed Ernest Hemingway.

Day 5


En route to Puente la Reina, we are treated to a breathtaking vista of Pamplona and its surrounding valley from the Alto de Perdon mountain. Continuing onward, we arrive at Puente la Reina, adorned with a magnificent Romanesque bridge at its entrance. A leisurely stroll through the medieval town reveals charming cobblestone streets and tantalizing glimpses of local gastronomy.

Day 6


Today's trek presents a more leisurely pace as we depart Puente la Reina, traversing olive groves, farmland, and vineyards en route to Estella, a medieval gem brimming with palaces, churches, and monasteries. Here, we unwind amidst the tranquil ambiance, savoring the flavors of local cuisine.

Day 7


Our day commences with a delightful stop at the Irache Winery, founded in 1891, renowned for its iconic wine fountain—a true testament to the region's vinicultural heritage. Enveloped by sweeping vistas of vineyards and olive groves, our journey unfolds until we reach Los Arcos, where we partake in a taste of history and tradition.

Day 8


Today heralds our arrival in Logrono, the esteemed capital of La Rioja, internationally acclaimed for its esteemed Rioja wine production and vibrant tapas scene along the Camino. Our trek today proves particularly demanding, characterized by arduous terrain and continuous ascents. Upon reaching Logrono, we are greeted by the grandeur of a stone bridge spanning the Ebro River, inviting us to explore the city's myriad delights.

Day 9


Before bidding adieu to the enchanting stretch of the Camino Francés, we savor another day in Logrono. Here, we lose ourselves in the labyrinthine streets, uncovering historical treasures within the old town, including the venerable 12th-century Church of San Bartolome. Indulging in the sumptuous local cuisine and exquisite wines, we toast to the memories forged along the illustrious "Way of the Elephants" restaurants nestled on the terrace.
